The United States has a long history of Anti-Asian sentiment. This dates back to the 1850's. The Page Exclusion Act of 1875 is often cited as the first piece of legislation against immigrant communities. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was its climax. If you fast forward to present, attacks on the AAPI community have surged upwards to 150-200%.
We stand in solidarity and support of the AAPI communities.
Japanese internment camps were established during WWII by President FDR through his Executive Order 9066. From 1942 to 1945, it was the policy of the U.S. government that people of Japanese descent, including U.S. citizens, would be incarcerated in isolated camps. Enacted in reaction to the Pearl Harbor attacks and the ensuing war, the incarceration of Japanese Americans is considered one of the most atrocious violations of American civil rights in the 20th century.
